<p style=”text-align: center;”>Recently I attended a photoshoot with a gorgeous girl, Layba. She is a photography student at Leyton College who is currently working on a project based around plus size women.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Two different shoots took place. Layba used acetate paper on a projection screen to reflect words onto my body. One of the papers had words that were all positive and empowering and on the other sheet the words were hurtful and negative . This was done to project the way we feel and how society makes us feel.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>I love how Layba thinks outside the box, she has decided to base her work on plus size women & comes up with all the different looks to shoot. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her and hopefully we’ll do it again something in the near future!!
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Check out her Instagram page for more of her amazing photography: LXSA.W
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Just A Plussize Girl

If you’d have asked me a few years ago if I would enter a plus size pageant I probably would have laughed in your face. Never in a million years did I think that I would have had the confidence to get up on stage in front of hundreds of people and prance around on stage half naked!! Growing up I was the girl who was dressed & covered from head to toe even in the summer, I hated my body and the last thing I wanted to do was to show it for the world to see! Oh how things have changed….I owe that to Miss British Beauty Curve, this was the first ever pageant I entered. Competing in MBBC was the ultimate confidence boost and I would recommend it to everyone.
Wondering how I even found out about pageants? Well I first found out about plus size pageants when I attended an event called Curvy Con, an event where everything plus size is all under one roof (sounds perfect, right!) it was here I met a woman called Charlotte. We started talking, I had seen her in her sash during the day so she told me about the pageant, how I could apply and instantly I was intrigued little did I know this woman was about to change my life.
On the day of the finale I’m not gonna lie I was petrified. I knew nobody when I arrived to the venue apart from Charlotte but you soon enough make friends and it was a good thing that we had rehearsals throughout the day because I froze on stage and one of the reigning queens had to grab my hand and walk with me! The girls there were so supportive they all starting cheering, it made me feel loads better. 3 years later and I have entered Miss British Beauty Curve twice & last year entered new pageant called Miss Voluptuous UK. I still talk the girls from the pageants as well, that’s another plus on entering into pageants. They are my pageant sisters, friends for life and one massive family that support each other when we need it, what more can you ask for!
